Each week we spotlight one of our fine college or high school chapters doing amazing work both locally and globally. Our chapters work to accomplish the three pillars of a Timmy Chapter: Advocacy, Service, and Fundraising. This week we are taking a look at Ball State University!
Give us an update–what are some recent events you have done, or goals you have achieved?

What events or goals are you gearing up for in the near future? What are your plans to make these happen successfully?
Planning Global Health Week April 3-8. We are setting up tables in the library to spread awareness about mental health. We are going to set up a booth at the food court and ask students what global health means to them. They will hold up a white board with what they wrote and we will take photos to start a social media campaign. We will host a global health documentary screening as well.
The Amazing Race (Global Health Edition): This will take place on April 8th as the end of Global Health Week. Teams of 3-5 sign up for a $20 fee. They compete in trivia and relay race type events. The teams with the three lowest times will win a prize.
What trip has your chapter just returned from? Tell us about it!
We just returned from Misahualli, Ecuador. We visited 5 communities, saw 409 patients, and referred 46 patients to local medical services. Our phenomenal Med Profs (shout out to Shawn, Karen, Donna, Edward, Susie, and Kevin!) took the time to teach us about the challenges and rewards of practicing medicine in a developing country. Ariana helped us understand the importance of community and family support in the Ecuadorian culture. Charlie/Carlos taught us “beginner” salsa, however we are all now pro salsa dancers. We made lasting friendships with the fantastic interpreters, without whom we would have been lost.
What are you most excited for during your year with Timmy?
