Each week we spotlight one of our fine college or high school chapters doing amazing work both locally and globally. Our chapters work to accomplish the three pillars of a Timmy Chapter: Advocacy, Service, and Fundraising. This week we are taking a look at University of North Carolina!
Give us an update. What are some recent events you have done, or goals you have achieved?
We have just elected our 2017-2018 executive board, and we’re really excited about what they will accomplish. Last week we had a successful chipotle fundraiser the same night we won the NCAA Men’s basketball National Championship! We have continued hosting Timmy Trivia and hope to grow this event in the future.
What events or goals are you gearing up for in the near future? What are your plans to make these happen successfully?
Along with gearing up for the trip, we are working to develop relationships with the professional schools on campus in order to make use of all the resources available at our university. We hope these relations will increase Timmy’s presence on campus and bolster our impact. We are planning an end of the year recap to compile our accomplishments and learn how we can be more effective in the future.
Is your chapter heading out on a trip soon? How is that part of your chapter preparing, and how is the rest of your chapter supporting the trip?
Our chapter will be heading on a trip to Chonta, Ecuador in August. We are currently preparing a big publicity push to increase excitement for the trip across campus. Our new and old executive boards are working together to reach as many students as possible. We continue to look for energetic medical professionals and sources of supply donations.
What kind of assistance or support do you need? This is your platform to reach out!
We could definitely use help recruiting medical professionals for our trip.
What are you most excited for during your year with Timmy?
Meeting other individuals who share our passion for global health! We hope to encourage other students to get involved with Timmy and empower them to fulfill its mission.
