Medical Programs Coordinator - Quito, Ecuador
Rowan Murray graduated from Duke University in 2014 with degrees in Evolutionary Anthropology and Biology. After working in a veterinary hospital in the U.S. Rowan joined the Peace Corps and moved to a small town in Ecuador’s cloud forest called Pedro Vicente Maldonado. There, he became fascinated with the Ecuadorian culture, it’s values and goals as a society, as well as connecting with the people in this region of South America.
Since joining Timmy Global Health and moving to Quito in 2016, Rowan has spent meaningful time with patients and communities in the area. After being on the ground and seeing the real impact of Timmy’s medical service trips, Rowan has a huge appreciation for how many people we can help with our volunteer work and fundraising efforts– $1 goes so much farther in Ecuador than it would in the United States. Ultimately, Rowan is planning on going to veterinary school, and this experience has proven what a validating field healthcare can be, in all forms!
