Medical Programs Coordinator - Quito, Ecuador
Rowan Murray graduated from Duke University in 2014 with degrees in Evolutionary Anthropology and Biology. After working in a veterinary hospital in the US, Rowan joined the Peace Corps and moved to a small town called Pedro Vicente Maldonado in the cloud forest of Ecuador. Here he became fascinated with the Ecuadorian culture, its values and goals as a society, as well as connecting with the people in this region of South America.
With the Peace Corps, Rowan was working to develop practical skills and healthy lifestyles with priority attention groups facing discrimination based on race, gender, age, or disabilities. He was also an active participant in multiple diversity support groups sponsored by the Peace Corps, and is passionate about human rights advocacy and equality. Since his arrival he has been trying to move towards work in the medical field, and he is thrilled to be joining Timmy Global Health and starting a new life in Quito. Ultimately, Rowan is working to increase his linguistic and cultural understanding so that one day he can attend veterinary school in Latin America.
