Medical Programs Coordinator - Xela, Guatemala
Rhiana first came to Guatemala in 2016, visiting some of the country’s beautiful sites before volunteering with a health clinic in the highlands surrounding Xela. During this time, she learned about the challenges many Mayan families face accessing health care and met Xela MPC Lily, gaining an appreciation for Timmy’s mission. Rhiana is passionate about reducing global health disparities through partnerships that build on communities’ strengths and provide opportunities for individuals and families to improve their health. She is thrilled to now be joining the Timmy team!
Raised in Houston, Texas, Rhiana graduated with a BA in International Relations and Community Health from Tufts University. She has worked with international trip participants through cultural immersion program Amigos de las Americas and most recently worked for health systems strengthening nonprofit, supporting USG-funded projects in Malawi. She is excited to collaborate closely with Timmy’s in-country partner, Asociación 32 Volcanes, to advocate for health care access.
In her free time, Rhiana is looking forward to hiking many of Guatemala’s volcanoes and enjoys crafting bracelets, scouting live music, and borrowing friends’ dogs for walks around town.
