Medical Programs Coordinator - Xela, Guatemala
Lily works as the Medical Programs Coordinator in Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala. Originally from Connecticut, she graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a degree in Political Science and Latin American Studies in 2014. Shortly after graduation, she set off to Guatemala to intern as the Family Support Center Coordinator for Pop Wuj, Timmy’s in-country partner organization.
Over the course of her internship, she became better acquainted with Timmy Global Health, serving as a volunteer translator on several medical brigades, spending more time in the clinic, and becoming involved in the Nutrition Program geared towards mothers and young children. She left Guatemala confident she would be back to continue advocating for women’s health, sustainable development, and better access to education. This past year she worked in event programming and management with the World Affairs Council of Connecticut. She coordinated program logistics, managed donor communication and aided fundraising efforts.
She is incredibly excited to finally be back in Guatemala working towards these critical global health goals and hopes to eventually pursue a Masters in Public Health. In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, drinking lots of coffee, and scuba diving.
