Director of Programming and Evaluation
During her time at the University of Michigan, Kate studied abroad in both Jarabacoa and Nagua, Dominican Republic where she studied infant and child mortality. After graduating from Michigan, she relocated to Xela, Guatemala for Somos Hermanos, an immersion program aiming to create culturally competent health care providers. There she worked closely with a local organization on health-related community development projects. Upon her return, Kate fulfilled a life goal by joining the ranks of the Peace Corps. From 2009 – 2011, Kate served as a Health Education Volunteer in Berat, Albania. There, she worked for the Regional Directorate of Public Health in the Health Promotion and Prevention office creating and implementing health education lessons and collaborating often with the Ministry of Health and Institute of Public Health.
Upon her return from Albania, Kate was a Peace Corps Fellow at Yale University where she received her Master’s degree in Public Health with a focus in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Global Health. Kate has completed project evaluations on many topics including teenage pregnancy, youth violence, global nutrition programs, and global programs for HIV+ youth.
Kate most recently worked for the Peace Corps Northeast recruitment team in Massachusetts finding the next generation of globally-minded citizens. She is looking forward to working with the Timmy Family and continue working internationally!
