I have been volunteering at Timmy for 16 years and have been on many Timmy trips to sites in Jamaica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. My degree from Purdue University is in l microbiology, but on the brigades I work in the pharmacy.
I assist in procuring medications and supplies for the trips, as well as leading the special projects at Timmy Global Health, such as the Nutrition project in Guatemala and the procurement of free vitamins for our patients in Guatemala, DR and Ecuador. I enjoy spending the brigade week with the college students and other medical professionals, helping the underserved patients at our sites.
In my spare time, I volunteer at Gennasaret Free Clinic and at Eagle Creek Park. My hobbies include hiking, birding, reading and traveling. I have monitored the Eastern bluebird populations at ECP for 28 years and serve on two boards associated with the park. I am learning Spanish, slowly, and enjoying that challenge. An interesting facet of my life that few people know is that I am an active supporter of the conservation and preservation of the Mountain Gorillas in Central Africa.
