Alejandra Fernandez

Medical Programs Coordinator - Santo Domingo, Ecuador

Santo Domingo, Ecuador
Alejandra is one of the newest members of the Timmy Team, and joins the staff as the first full-time Medical Programs Coordinator in Santo Domingo, Ecuador.

Alejandra’s love of people and cultures stems from her studies in Anthropology. As a child, she traveled with her family and eventually by herself and reveled in seeing new places and meeting new people with different languages, traditions, and ways of life. This brought Ale to teach English for a year in Nanchang, Jiangxi, China. She was first exposed to Timmy during that year through a family friend. The opportunity to live and work in a different country as well as continue her passion for Anthropology through work with the Tsachila people led her over 10,000 miles to Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Ecuador. She hopes to help facilitate a connection between the different cultures of Ecuador and the United States to better promote global health. In the future, Ale hopes to further her studies with a Graduate program in Paleopathology.
