  • Timmy Global Health Names New Executive Director

    Indianapolis based Timmy Global Health (Timmy) today announced Kristina Graff as its next Executive Director. The announcement comes the day before the annual Timmy Global Health Student Conference in Nashville, IN, where Graff will make her first appearance as the incoming Executive Director. “Kristina Graff has the passion, commitment and experience to lead Timmy Global Health into the future,” said Dr. Chuck Dietzen, founder and interim Executive Director. “Kristina understands that global health is more than just improving health outcomes, it is about compassionately serving others.”

  • Politics and Global Health in Guatemala

    The night before my trip to Guatemala, I sat quietly with my youngest child, reading one of the Magic Tree House books and feeling delighted as we ventured on a trip through the jungles of Africa. For those of you that do not have children or have chosen other reading materials, this is a series of books where two children discover a tree house deep in their back yard and each time they set foot in the tree house, it spins wildly and sends them off into a new location and new time period for another adventure.

  • Nutrition Program Continues to Grow

    In Guatemala, Timmy Global Health and Asociacion Pop Wuj have been collaborating on a Nutrition Program to combat staggering rates of childhood malnutrition in the region for several years. Since it’s start in 2011, this program has taken many forms, always with a focus on treatment and prevention of chronic malnutrition in children under 2 (the target age for successful treatment), utilizing education and nutritional supplements.

  • Advancing Health through Reforestation

    In addition to the direct medical programming that Pop Wuj conducts in partnership with Timmy, the organization is also a Spanish language school that works with foreign student volunteers to carry out a number of social projects.     As self-proclaimed “Timmy trip veterans,” we had come to expect these things while volunteering on a Timmy trip in Ecuador; between us, we had volunteered on four separate Timmy trips with our universities before we officially joined the Timmy team in Ecuador as Long Term Volunteers. However, returning as LTVs for brigades in Tena and Quito in March 2015 revealed to us an entirely different side of the Timmy trip experience.
