A Day in the Life of a Timmy MPC

Michelle Jimenez, originally from Colombia is an MPC based in Quito, Ecuador. The communities we serve are located in Southern Quito—an area marked by industrial and residential sprawl— where the greatest disparities in access to basic services are seen. In addition to managing brigade logistics in collaboration with in-country partners Tierra Nueva and Hombro a Hombro, Michelle works with community health promoters to help schedule appointments, manages the brigade schedule for clinic days, hiring local interpreters and doctors, all while creating a comprehensive itinerary for the trip. A brigade of 20+ student volunteers, medical professionals, and general volunteers arrive ready to work for the next seven days. Michelle then prepares post trip follow-ups with patients, specifically, referrals to both the public sector and to the Tierra Nueva Clinic and Padre Carollo Hospital.
