This Bar Saves Lives: Partnering with Timmy to Bring Nutrition to Guatemala’s Children

Timmy’s Nutrition Program is currently working with 108 patients in 5 communities, using three nutritional products.

In 2013, Ryan Devlin and Todd Grinnell went on a humanitarian trip to Liberia. There, they saw the tragedy of severe acute malnutrition in children firsthand. They also witnessed the effects of the miracle product Plumpy’Nut®, which brought these severely malnourished kids back to life. The idea for This Bar Saves Lives started taking shape right then and there. When they returned, they partnered up with Ravi Patel and Kristen Bell to create a snack bar company with giving at its core. For every non-GMO, gluten free, ridiculously delicious bar sold, This Bar Saves Lives gives life-saving food to a child in need. To date, This Bar Saves Lives has donated enough food packets to help save more than 15,000 lives.

Timmy Global Health and This Bar Saves Lives partnered in 2014. Before we partnered, Timmy shipped 51,600 packets of Enov’Nutributter® and Plumpy’Nut® between 2011-2014. Today all of Timmy’s Plumpy’Nut® and Enov’Nutributter® is donated by This Bar Saves Lives, allowing us to provide nutrition to children in some of the hardest to reach communities in Guatemala.
