2017 Global Health Challenge

2017 Global Health Challenge
January 4, 2017 Callie Daniels-Howell

We are excited to partnered with AMA Insurance again for the 2017 Global Health Challenge.

AMA has long been a partner with Timmy Global Health in providing insurance for our trips and trip participants. They see the value in making investments in meaningful change, so when they wanted to host a contest that promoted medical students and their heart to see change, it was a perfect fit.

“My experience was not just a trip, nor was it just a summer spent abroad. It was a commitment, a lesson learned, and a reality – all of which I gradually noticed upon my return to the states as a student who couldn’t wait to play even a larger role in healthcare.” – Jenna Quill, 2011 contest winner.

Based on essay and video submissions, a winning team of students will be chosen. They will have an opportunity to work alongside Timmy Global Health in Ecuador, Guatemala or the Dominican Republic to help provide high quality health services to undeserved populations.

Teams of 2-5 pre-med, medical students and residents as well as students in allied health fields are invited to enter by answering the contest question in 500 words or less. Ten finalist teams will then be selected to create a video. The videos will be posted on the website. One winning team will be selected by a panel of judges.

The nationwide contest is sponsored by AMA Insurance Agency, Inc.

The winning team will collaborate directly with Timmy Global Health as they serve those too often undeserved. They’ll learn about the problems Timmy patients face. They’ll analyze and think through strategies to solve those challenges. And alongside Timmy, they will act.

“Global health experiences offer aspiring medical professionals the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. They foster a life-long passion for service to the neediest populations, both at home and abroad, and they enable a deeper understanding of the social detriments of health.”  -Timmy Global Health Executive Director Kristina Graff.
